Iran has declared that it will never permit the United States to control any part of Kharg Island or the Strait of Hormuz, reaffirming what officials describe as a non-negotiable commitment to national sovereignty.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing disputes over security, navigation, and strategic influence in the Persian Gulf. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz remains under the authority of Iran and neighboring regional partners, rejecting any proposal that would place the vital waterway under foreign control.
Kharg Island, Iran’s primary oil-export terminal, and the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, remain central to the country’s economic and strategic interests. Iranian leaders have insisted that decisions regarding these locations will be made by Iran alone and not by outside powers.
The declaration highlights the continuing friction between Tehran and Washington as diplomatic efforts struggle to ease tensions. While discussions regarding regional security and maritime access continue, Iranian officials maintain that sovereignty over Kharg Island and the Strait of Hormuz is not open for negotiation.
