WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States successfully conducted airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities, including the heavily fortified underground site at Fordow.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump declared the operation a “very successful attack” and issued a direct message to Iran, stating: “IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR.”
The surprise strikes have sent shockwaves across the international community, prompting urgent reactions from world leaders and raising fears of further escalation in the already volatile Middle East.
Iran’s Sharp Response
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi quickly condemned the U.S. action in a strongly worded statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). He described the strikes as “outrageous” and warned of severe long-term consequences.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” Araghchi said. “Each and every member of the United Nations must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless, and criminal behavior.”
He further emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense under international law, stating: “In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people.”
Araghchi stressed that Iran “reserves all options” in responding to the American strikes, signaling that Tehran is prepared to retaliate in ways it deems appropriate.
