WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump marked his 80th birthday Sunday evening with a large-scale UFC event on the South Lawn of the White House, drawing thousands of attendees, prominent political figures, athletes, entertainers, and military personnel.
The event, known as UFC Freedom 250, featured 14 fighters competing in an outdoor octagon-style cage constructed on White House grounds. Organizers estimated attendance at approximately 4,300 people, including around 1,200 active-duty service members.
Crowds greeted the president with cheers throughout the evening, while some attendees sang “Happy Birthday” as part of the celebration. The event began with a performance of the national anthem by country music artist Zac Brown, accompanied by the Marine Band. The festivities concluded with a military flyover featuring aircraft from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
President Trump attended the event alongside UFC President Dana White, a longtime supporter and ally. The two watched the fights from ringside as fighters and guests interacted with them throughout the evening.
Several high-profile guests attended, including comedian Joe Rogan, entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg, First Lady Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Barron Trump. Comedians Tony Hinchcliffe and Shane Gillis were also present among the crowd.
In the months leading up to the event, White confirmed that invitations had been extended to a number of well-known celebrities, including actor Adam Sandler, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, actor Jared Leto, actor Jason Statham, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and television personality Mario Lopez. However, those invited celebrities did not attend the event.
Country music star Zac Brown defended his participation during a recent interview, emphasizing that his appearance was intended to honor the military and celebrate patriotism rather than support a political cause.
Many fighters participating in UFC Freedom 250 thanked President Trump after their matches, with several approaching ringside to shake his hand following their victories. Organizers described the event as part of broader America 250 celebrations scheduled to take place throughout the year.
Speaking briefly to reporters before departing for the G7 summit, Trump praised the event, describing it as an unprecedented spectacle in the world of sports.
The White House celebration represented one of the most unusual sporting events ever hosted on federal property and highlighted the growing relationship between combat sports, popular culture, and national political events.
