! US redeploys warplanes from Germany, UK to Middle East: NYT

The United States is rushing additional advanced warplanes and support assets to the Middle East, according to American officials speaking on the condition of anonymity on Sunday.

The urgent deployment serves as a clear indicator that the Trump administration is preparing to significantly escalate its ongoing air campaign against Iran.

The influx of frontline combat aviation comes amid hyper-extended regional tensions and follows the collapse of previous cross-border agreements earlier this month.

Stealth fighters, tankers en route

According to the officials, who were not authorized to publicly discuss active operational matters, the Pentagon has mobilized Air Force F-16 fighter jets stationed in Germany alongside advanced, stealthy F-35 fighter jets currently based in Britain.

Crucially, additional aerial refueling aircraft are also on the way to the theater.

High-capacity tankers are a vital force multiplier for long-range interdiction missions, allowing heavily armed fighter jets to remain airborne without returning to base.

While US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees all American military operations in the region, declined to comment on the deployments, logistics networks are moving rapidly.

The heavy combat aviation build-up aligns directly with an aggressive shift in political messaging from the White House.

US President Trump signaled that he intends to scale up targeted attacks across Iran in the coming week, expanding the current target list beyond immediate military launch sites.

The US administration reportedly intends to systematically strike vital Iranian infrastructure networks.

The planned target profiles include major bridges, electrical power plants, and primary power distribution systems, aiming to heavily degrade Iran’s domestic logistical and industrial capability.

While it remains unclear where all the incoming tactical fighter squadrons will ultimately be stationed, the regional basing architecture is already adapting.

An ‘Israeli’ military official speaking on the condition of anonymity on Saturday confirmed that the United States has decided to place some of these additional aerial refueling aircraft directly at ‘Israeli’ Air Force bases, heavily optimizing US strike ranges across the eastern Mediterranean and western Asia.
